Cyclect Wins NEA Integrated Waste Management Facility Electrical Works Project

Cyclect has won the electrical construction project for the consortium that will design and build the new Tuas Nexus Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) for the National Environmental Agency (NEA).

The company will be responsible for installing the facility’s electrical infrastructure, including power, lighting, earthing and lightning protection and extra-low voltage systems.

About the project

The IWMF’s construction will help Singapore to achieve a number of goals, including generating more electricity, reducing waste quantities to Semakau Landfill and meeting sustainability targets by converting waste to energy more efficiently. It is targeted to be operational in 2025.

To improve energy and resource recovery from waste, the IWMF will be outfitted with cutting-edge solid waste treatment technologies. It will also be the first integrated facility in Singapore to treat incinerable waste, source-segregated food waste, and dewatered sludge from PUB’s Tuas water reclamation plant.

About the client

The National Environmental Agency (NEA) plans, develops and administers Singapore’s solid (or general) and hazardous waste management systems. The government agency plans to increase Singapore’s current recycling rate from 52% in 2020 to 70% in 2030.
